ZOZOBRA ART

The artistic spirit of Santa Fe, New Mexico, has been running through the Burning of Zozobra nonstop during the entire existence of this beloved tradition!

Created by artist Will Shuster in 1924, Zozobra could rightfully be called one of Santa Fe’s most memorable sculptures. Even though this ginormous marionette is carefully and consciously designed to be destroyed in a blaze of flames each year in order to provide a release from gloom, this inspiring tradition continues to light a fire in the heart of artists.
