ZozoFest 2016 Art Show Prospectus

Ignite your creative side by portraying your love for the annual Burning of Zozobra!  As the date draws ever-closer to Old Man Gloom's destiny, the Kiwanis Club of Santa Fe wants to celebrate with your Zozobra-related artwork.  We are actively seeking submissions to fill our exhibition space, located adjacent to Old Man Gloom himself!  Please find the specific submission requirements & official entry rules below, along with all the important dates to remember.

All media are accepted, including Acrylic, Oil, Collage, Mixed Media, Pastel, Colored Pencil, Digital Art, Photography, Water Color, Sculpture, encaustic, resin, wax, layered media, video, and functional art.  As far as media, your only limitation is your imagination, since our gallery space is huge! Your ideas for installation-type artwork are welcome and open to consideration.

Photographs submitted for consideration in the art show may be digital or shot on film. Alternative processes, mixed media, digital manipulations, montages, photo-grams, etc. are all acceptable, as long as the images are photographically created.

Work that is not for sale is definitely welcome to be included in the exhibition!

Entry Process:

To guarantee a spot in our art show, we require each artist to complete a reservation submission via email, describing the pieces being submitted.  Please have JPEG files of your artwork prepared to attach.  Image size must be at least 1500 pixels on the longest side (but no larger than 3000 pixels).  If you are looking to create installation work, please contact Scott Wiseman at art@burnzozobra.com.  Special consideration will be given to artwork that illustrates this year's 1940s theme, the current focus of The 2016 Burning of Zozobra's “Decades Project.”

All artwork received through online submission is required to be dropped off by the artist at our gallery space in El Museo Cultural,555 Camino de la Familia, Santa Fe, NM 87501, located in the Santa Fe Railyard.  Please refer to calendar dates below.  It is each artist's responsibility to ensure that artwork is well protected by placing it in a sturdy box or other carrying system.  Will Shuster's Zozobra Art Show 2016 is not responsible for any damage caused to unprotected artwork.

Artwork drop-off at El Museo Cultural: 

Tuesday, August 23, 2016 from 4:00PM- 9:00PM and Wednesday, August 24 from 11:00AM - 11:00PM. (August 24 is the final deadline for artwork drop-off.  Any artwork not delivered by this time will not be included in the show!)

Gala Opening Reception at El Museo Cultural:  Friday, August 26, 2016, with official ceremonies beginning at 6 PM

Zozobra Art Exhibition Continues at El Museo Cultural:  Saturday, August 27 and Sunday, August 28, 2016

Unsold Artwork Pick-up at El Museo Cultural:  Sunday, August 28, 2016 from 4 PM- 6 PM

Final opportunity to pick up unsold artwork at El Museo Cultural:  Monday, August 29, 2016 from 3 PM- 7PM

Unsold artwork not picked up by official deadline will be considered property of the Santa Fe Kiwanis Club. NO EXCEPTIONS!

All artworks must be framed or have another form of wired hanging device and arrive at El Museo Cultural ready to hang.  Presentation is very important, so we encourage you to professionally prepare your art for exhibition and sale.  Other presentation items including business cards, 8 x 10's, posters, prints are also acceptable.

Anyone may enter!  There are NO restrictions on age or artist location. Anyone in the world may enter!  All we require is that artwork submitted is original and created by the person who enters the work.  Entries previously submitted to the Will Shuster's Zozobra Art Show are eligible for consideration if: A) They were not selected for exhibition, and B) The digital criteria defined above is met.

Entry Fee:
Entering artwork for consideration in our art show is FREE.  There is also no limit to how many art pieces you may submit.  We will show as many art pieces as can reasonably fit within our gallery space.

Submission Deadline:
The online submission must be received by 11:59 PM on Friday, August 19, 2016 MDT (New Mexico Time) to reserve a spot in the show.  Email submissions should be sent to art@burnzozobra.com with the requirements outlined above.  The final deadline to drop-off artwork is on TuesdayAugust 23, 2016 from 3 PM- 7 PM at El Museo Cultural in the Santa Fe Railyard.  Please refer to the Calendar above for available drop-off times.

Final Acceptance:
Final acceptance of entries in the Will Shuster's Zozobra Art Show exhibition is at the curator's discretion after viewing the delivered framed prints.  If a print does not match the appearance of the JPEG entry, or if the print quality or the framing (presentation device) are not suitable quality for gallery presentation, the curator may ask the artist to replace whichever element is not suitable.  We aim for a truly excellent show, so all of the artwork needs to be presented in a top-notch manner. Reminder: All artwork must be ready to hang, or it will not be displayed.

Exhibited work will be available for sale (unless the artist designates entries as NFS). The price for each framed print is at the artist's discretion.  Will Shuster's Zozobra Art Show 2016 will retain a commission of only 25% on all sales that occur during the exhibit or which occur later as a direct result of the exhibit.  The balance will be mailed to the artist within 30 days of the closing of the show.

Will Shuster's Zozobra Art Show 2016 carries no insurance for loss or damage to artwork in the gallery or in transit, nor assumes any liability for same.  However, every precaution will be taken for the safety of the exhibited work.  Artists can and should provide their own insurance coverage.

If you are an artist located outside of Santa Fe and must ship your artwork, please contact Scott at art@burnzozobra.com to make shipping arrangements.  Entries which are accepted for exhibition must be shipped to Santa Fe (or delivered in-person) and arrive no later than Tuesday, August 23, 2016.  Entries must be securely packaged in a sturdy shipping box, even if the artist delivers his/her work in-person.  Artwork that is not sold must be shipped back at the artist's expense, with shipping arranged by the artist (or picked up in-person) by Monday, August 29, 2016.  The Santa Fe Kiwanis Club will retain all of original packaging box/materials in which the artist's work is shipped.  If the artwork does not sell, we will re-use the packaging to send the work back to the artist.

Use of Images:
All entrants agree that any image they submit to the Will Shuster's Zozobra Art Show 2016 may be used for marketing and promotional purposes directly related to the Will Shuster's Zozobra Art Show 2016.  This use may include, but is not limited to, publication in any Will Shuster's Zozobra Art Show 2016 printed materials, advertisements, electronic media, internet, television, catalog, DVD, magazine, gallery shows, and online at www.burnzozobra.com.  Any image used by the Will Shuster's Zozobra Art Show 2016 shall carry the credit line of the artist.  Copyright and all other rights remain in the hands of the artist.

Will Shuster's Zozobra Art Show 2016, its staff, Board of Directors and anyone connected to the exhibition will not be responsible for loss, damage, breakage or theft of artwork while at the gallery.  Your entry into this exhibition constitutes agreement with these terms and conditions as set forth in the prospectus.
